Internship in Simulation and Model Reduction
Aufgaben:
During your internship, you perform CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) simulations for turbomachinery and static equipment. You will develop and implement machine learning algorithms to speed up simulations and integrate these algorithms into existing simulation workflows. Furthermore, you automate the simulation workflow through scripting and code development. To understand and contribute to the creation of an automated workflow for creating virtual sensors and hybrid models that combine CFD as well as FEA simulations is also part of your work. Moreover, you develop and implement Reduced Order Models (ROMs) for turbomachinery components and systems. You will integrate ROMs into a digital twin framework for real-time simulation. Additionally, the analysis and validation of ROM performance against high-fidelity simulations and experimental data as well as the analysis and evaluation of the performance of the accelerated simulations is your responsibility. Finally, you create Functional Mockup Units (FMUs) of critical components to enable co-simulation.
Qualifikationen:
Education: studies in Mechanical Engineering, Computational Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or comparable Experience and Knowledge: strong understanding of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA), know-how in Python programming, experience with machine learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch), working knowledge of at least one numerical simulation software package, such as ANSYS, COMSOL or OpenFOAM Personality and Working Practice: you are team-minded as well as reliable and enjoy working in an interdisciplinary team Enthusiasm: interest in an agile start-up environment Languages: fluent in English, German is a plus
